Bumper to Bumper Radio, the car guys on KTAR, 92.3 FM in Phoenix, AZ, broadcast every Saturday from 11:00 am to noon. On this show, Dave Riccio of Tri-City Transmission in Tempe, AZ talks about dealing with bad auto repair service. Also on this show:

  • The “4 C’s” of auto repair: Concern, Cause, Correction, and Confirmation. Unless an auto repair shop deals properly with these four elements, you will probably continue to deal with the same repair
  • Don’t be satisfied when a repair shop tells you not to worry about something. If it’s important to you, have the problem addressed.
  • Lexus: Do you recommend an audio shop that will give me a good product and a good price?
  • 2006 GMC Yukon: The right rear wheel was locked up due to the brake pad being worn out. We had put larger wheels on the vehicle and I’m wondering if you think that might be part of the problem? If so, how can I remedy this?
  • Honda Odyssey: I keep getting bad tires and I’m wondering if there’s something else wrong with the car itself instead of the tires?
  • 2004 Dodge Durango: I took my vehicle in to a dealership to have them check it out for a trade in. When they returned it to me, it now has an oil leak and I’m not sure what shop to take it to have this fixed?
  • 2010 Dodge Caravan 93,000 miles: I’ve had this van for about two years and for the last few months, while I’m driving, the car turns off and there’s a problem with getting it restarted. I’ve taken it to a couple of places and no one can find the problem. Do you recommend a good shop to take this to?
  • Can you take the battery cable off while the car is running to see if there’s a problem with the alternator?
  • 1994 Mazda pickup 250,000 miles: The transmission seems to not be shifting well when the weather gets warmer especially shifting into reverse. Do you think there’s a problem with the cooler?
  • 2000 Chevy pickup: I have a service engine light on that will not go off even after replacing the sensor and timing change. I’m not sure what the problem could be.

Cars talked about on this show are 2006 GMC Yukon, Lexus, Honda Odyssey, 2004 Dodge Durango, 2010 Dodge Caravan, 1994 Mazda pickup, and the 2000 Chevy Pickup.
